Geoffrey James selected as Toronto's first Photo Laureate

Internationally admired Toronto-based photographer Geoffrey James has been selected as Toronto's first Photo Laureate, pending approval from City Council at its March session.

Bower and Raonic inducted into the Toronto Sport Hall of Honour

The City of Toronto has inducted hockey legend Johnny Bower and tennis superstar Milos Raonic into its Toronto Sport Hall of Honour. Other inductees included Marilyn Bell DiLascio, Angela James, Anthony Gale and Herbert H. Carnegie. The ceremony took place this evening at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre. This first annual event is a legacy initiative of the City of Toronto's Host City Showcase Program from the 2015 Pan Am and Parapan Am Games.

City of Toronto named one of Canada's best diversity employers

For the first time, the City of Toronto has been named one of Canada's best diversity employers in the annual assessment of organizations called Canada's Best Diversity Employers.

City of Toronto issues first Toronto Environmental Progress Report

The City of Toronto has issued its 2015 Toronto Environmental Progress Report, the first report of its kind to document progress towards Toronto's environmental goals and priorities.

Mayor Tory announces the winners of his Black History Month writing contest for youth

At a Black History Month reception today, Mayor John Tory announced the winners of his first creative writing contest for young people. The contest was launched to help celebrate Black History Month and was open to youth 11 to 17 years of age, who were asked to share a story about black Torontonians, past or present, who have contributed to Toronto’s diverse heritage and identity.
