Flame of Peace comes alive again today in Toronto's Peace Garden

Toronto Mayor John Tory along with the Consul General of Japan, Yasunori Nakayama, Hiroshima Peace Ambassador Setsuko Thurlow and Peace Garden founder Father Massey Lombardi participated in a rededication ceremony today to officially open the relocated, enhanced Peace Garden. It is situated in the landscaped area on the west side of Nathan Phillips Square.

Councillor Mark Grimes (Ward 6 Etobicoke-Lakeshore), attending on behalf of Mayor John Tory, joined Councillor James Pasternak (Ward 10 York Centre), Chair of the Community Development and Recreation Committee, and representatives of YMCA of Greater Toronto, the Toronto District School Board, and the Toronto Catholic District School Board, to celebrate the graduates of the Toronto Sport Leadership Program (TSLP).

City of Toronto releases three new books in biodiversity series

The City of Toronto has released the latest books in the City's growing Biodiversity Book Series. The latest books in the series are Mushrooms of Toronto, Bees of Toronto, and Trees, Shrubs & Vines of Toronto. There are now nine published books in the series.

Mayor Tory outlines plan to grow Toronto's screen-based industries after record-breaking year

At an industry event at Cinespace Studio today, Mayor John Tory outlined a strategy to grow Toronto's $1.5-billion screen-based industry, drawing on experiences and insight gained during the City's business mission to Los Angeles in February.
