City of Toronto welcomes start of housing support services for LGBTQ2S youth at YMCA Sprott House, largest in Canada

Mayor John Tory and Councillor Joe Cressy (Ward 20 Trinity-Spadina) today announced the start of shelter support services for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, two-spirited (LGBTQ2S) homeless youth at Toronto's YMCA Sprott House. The 25-bed transitional housing facility, the largest of its kind and one of only a handful across the country, is the first of two programs for LGBTQ2S homeless youth in Toronto expected to open this year.

Mayor Tory, Councillor Robinson launch Phase Two of City’s plan to cut congestion and increase road safety

Mayor John Tory and Councillor Jaye Robinson (Ward 25 Don Valley West), Chair of the Public Works and Infrastructure Committee, today outlined the next steps to improve the flow of traffic across the city, including plans to tackle 10 hot-spot intersections and add "smart" traffic signals, building on the success of last year's six-point congestion plan.

Live from City Hall – new music series launched tonight

Mayor John Tory was joined in the City Hall rotunda by Kevin Barnes, Senior Vice President and Region Head, Greater Toronto Region, TD Bank Group this evening to help launch the new Live from City Hall music series. The launch event featured performances by Toronto groups The Young Novelists and The Muso Project.

City of Toronto reminds residents to be cautious with raccoons

The City of Toronto is reminding residents to keep a safe distance from raccoons after 10 cases of rabies in raccoons have been confirmed in Hamilton, the first cases in Ontario since 2005.
