Heat Warning declared for Toronto - July 21, 2016

Based on information from Environment Canada, Dr. Barbara Yaffe, Toronto’s Acting Medical Officer of Health, has issued a Heat Warning for Toronto today. The Heat Warning will be in effect until further notice.

Partial closure of Cherry Street Bridge

As of this evening, the southbound lane of the Cherry Street Bridge over the Keating Channel will be closed for emergency repairs to a damaged bridge plate. City staff are currently assessing needed repairs and will make all efforts to reopen the lane to southbound traffic as soon as possible.

Landlord pleads guilty to fire code offences in Toronto, fined $71,000

The owner of a highrise apartment building at 2850 Jane St. pleaded guilty to fire code infractions on July 15 and was fined a total of $71,000 for various breaches of the Ontario Fire Code.

Cristina De Caprio appointed City of Toronto’s Lobbyist Registrar

At its July meeting, City Council unanimously appointed Cristina De Caprio as Toronto's Lobbyist Registrar, effective September 12. The Lobbyist Registrar promotes and enhances the transparency and integrity of the City's governance through public disclosure of lobbying activities and the regulation of lobbyists' conduct.
