At the August 15 meeting of the Parks and Environment Committee, Clean Air Partnership recognized the City of Toronto for its progress on meeting its commitments as part of the GTA Clean Air Council 2012-14 Inter-Governmental Declaration on Clean Air and Climate Change. Toronto is the only municipality in the Council that has achieved all of the targets associated with the Clean Air Council Declaration commitments.
The GTA Clean Air Council is a network of 24 municipalities and health units from across the GTA that works collaboratively on the development and implementation of clean air and climate change mitigation and adaptation actions. Clean Air Partnership serves as the secretariat for the Clean Air Council.
“Communities that are more sustainable, efficient and resilient, are better able to tackle air pollution and climate change challenges while making our communities more competitive and livable. The City of Toronto has demonstrated leadership in furthering municipal clean air and climate change actions and policies across the region,” said Jim Baxter, Director of the City's Environment and Energy Division.
