A series of lane closures will take place in Toronto on Dundas Street East between Yonge Street and Church Street from April to November to allow for watermain construction work, TTC streetcar track work and road resurfacing.
To accommodate the construction, restrictions will take place during the following periods:
• From April 24 to July 16, Dundas Street from Yonge Street to Church Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction for watermain construction work.
• From July 17 to September 16, Dundas from Yonge to Church will be reduced to one lane (westbound traffic only) to allow for streetcar track work and partial road reconstruction.
• From September 17 to October 31, Dundas from Yonge to Church will have one lane open to traffic in each direction during road resurfacing work and sidewalk reconstruction.
This work is being done primarily to reduce the risk of future watermain breaks and to improve the quality of the streetcar tracks.
Extended hours, from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., will be used for this project. In addition, some portions of the work will take place on a 24/7 basis to help minimize the disruption.
Signs on Dundas Street immediately east and west of the project will inform drivers of the lane closures to help manage traffic in the area. Traffic-signal timing changes will be made on parallel routes. Gerrard Street or Queen Street are alternative east-west routes for drivers to consider using in the area.
