The City of Toronto and Nikon Canada have announced the winners in this year's Snap and Share contest. Produced by the City of Toronto and presented by Nikon Canada, the contest attracted more than 1,600 submissions from across the city featuring "parks, forestry and recreation moments." 

 

"Congratulations to the winners of the Snap and Share contest," said Mayor John Tory. "All submissions this year have captured hidden gems of Toronto and showcase just how naturally beautiful this city truly is." 

 

Winners listed by category:

• Grand Prize: Sunset at the Beach, taken at Bluffer's Park by Jose Marvin Evasco • Parks: Impact, taken at Taylor Creek Trail by Yasmeen (Sew Ming) Tian • Forestry: Fall in the Rouge Valley Has Arrived, taken at Rouge Park by Arvo Poolar • Recreation: Jogging in the Park, taken at G. Ross Lord Park by Abbas Solhdoost

 

A panel of three judges selected the grand-prize-winning photograph and each of the category-winning photographs. The judges included Kristian Bogner, world-class photographer, speaker and Nikon Canada Ambassador; Dr. Roberta Bondar, professional nature photographer and Canada's first woman astronaut; and Moses Znaimer, founder and CEO of Zoomer Media Limited. 

 

The grand prize winner will receive a Nikon D3300 HD-SLR camera and lenses. Each category winner will receive a Nikon COOLPIX AW120 camera. The winning photographs and honourable mentions can be viewed at http://www.toronto.ca/photocontest.
