City of Toronto launches an urban forestry project funded by TD Green Streets

Councillor Janet Davis (Ward 31 Beaches-East York), Councillor Mary-Margaret McMahon (Ward 32 Beaches-East York) and City of Toronto staff joined representatives from TD Friends of the Environment Foundation (TD FEF), Tree Canada, local Business Improvement Areas, Danforth East Community Association and project volunteers to celebrate today's launch of the Adopt a Street Tree pilot project.

Wayfinding pilot launched in Toronto's downtown core

The City of Toronto has completed a comprehensive wayfinding strategy for those using all modes of travel, including pedestrians, cyclists, motorists and transit users. As part of this strategy, a pilot project has been launched in the downtown core that will help both residents and visitors find their way around the city.

Toronto's annual spring cleaning efforts add up to big numbers

The City of Toronto's interdivisional spring cleanup of roads, boulevards, parks and other public places took place from March 30 to April 24. During the four-week program, staff from City divisions removed more than 8,125 tonnes of litter (compared with 6,327 tonnes in 2014), cleaned up 2,271 square metres of graffiti vandalism and swept 26,224 kilometres of roads.

New tool aims to build inclusive, diverse communities

Together with partners from municipalities and women’s organizations across Canada, the City of Toronto, Springtide Resources and Toronto Women's City Alliance helped to launch a new national guide for city officials, managers and staff on June 8 at Ottawa City Hall. A project of the City for All Women Initiative (CAWI), Advancing Equity and Inclusion: A Guide for Municipalities offers tools, best practices and case studies to support efforts to plan, create and sustain positive change that emphasizes the strengths of Canada’s diverse populations.
